When I first came here, I lacked any trust in anyone. I hid how I felt, didn’t talk to any of my nurses and techs about my needs, and refused support when I so desperately needed it. In the midst of navigating my depression, anxiety, and severe PTSD, Anneliese Glickley was there in the background. We never talked, but I saw her passion in the care she gave others. When I finally had her as a nurse, I finally took the leap to trust just the tiniest bit. I had avoided taking nighttime meds because of my PTSD, but with Annelieses’ support, I took them. I was frightened to do so, but I never felt judged for showing that fear. I had one of the first in-depth conversations I have ever had with Anneliese. She told me her story, and after our conversation ended, I discovered a new outlook on life. Hope and motivation burrowed into my troubled mind. I hope someday I can have that same passionate love Anneliese has for herself and others. And I hope someday I’ll inspire others like she inspired me.
