Anna Wolfe is an extraordinary nurse whose leadership, innovation, and compassion have had a profound impact on our unit and make her deeply deserving of the DAISY Award. Although she is a newer Clinical Nurse Expert (CNE), she demonstrates a level of maturity, confidence, and expertise far beyond her years. She approaches every role she holds with professionalism, thoughtfulness, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. I especially see this in her teaching, from which I directly benefited. Anna oriented me to the charge nurse role, and throughout the process she made me feel incredibly supported, encouraged, and safe. She creates an environment where nurses are allowed to build confidence while continuing to build their skills, never being afraid to fail in front of her. She never makes people feel intimidated and instead teaches in a way that empowers others to become stronger, more capable nurses.
What makes Anna especially remarkable is the breadth of her involvement across both the unit and the hospital. She serves as a CLABSI champion, CNE, APE chair, charge nurse, and CRN, yet despite balancing so many responsibilities, she remains fully present for her coworkers and patients. She uses the knowledge and perspective she gains from these different roles to continuously challenge both new and experienced staff members to grow, improve, and think critically. She is constantly sharing evidence-based practice updates, encouraging accountability, and helping staff better understand the "why" behind what we do.
Furthermore, these roles allow Anna to expand her practice and look for new ways to improve the unit, strengthen patient care, and support staff development. She is deeply innovative and, rather than settling for "the way things have always been done," she actively seeks opportunities for growth and improvement. Anna is someone who notices gaps in practice, workflow, or communication, and immediately starts thinking about how to make things better for us. She is never a bystander in that regard, hoping that someone else will tackle the problem and instead will do it herself. Even with her many leadership responsibilities, Anna never loses sight of the importance of human connection. She consistently checks in on coworkers during difficult shifts, offers support without being asked, willingly jumps into numbers and out of project time, switches roles (bedside vs CRN vs charge) to best suit the needs of our nurses, and recognizes when someone may need encouragement. Whether she is helping troubleshoot a complex patient situation, mentoring a newer nurse, or simply taking a moment to ask someone how they are doing, she makes people feel seen, valued, and supported. Anna leads by example in these ways, and her presence makes people feel safer and more confident. Above all else, she has one of the kindest and sweetest souls. Regardless of someone's role or experience level, she consistently treats everyone with respect, patience, and compassion. Her leadership, intelligence, innovation, and genuine care for others embody the true spirit of the DAISY Award, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.

Thank you, Anne, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
