She worked so hard to make sure she could get back home quickly, including going on the ambulance with her, as she was so stressed with it all.
Our daughter-in-law spent a few weeks at Penn Ward in October last year. She was diagnosed with a rare Sarcoma Cancer in February previous year. Sadly, while she was at Penn Ward in October, she was told there was no more they could do for her. Her partner and their two young children were devasted and heartbroken, as were her family. I cannot thank the staff team at Penn Ward enough for all the care and support they gave our daughter-in-law and our son and grandchildren. Their patience, especially sitting with them, chatting, and giving hugs when needed, was above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble. They made the children so welcome!
I want to thank Anna Mawbey, who went above and beyond her role to support the whole family. Our daughter-in-law's final wish was to be home for her final days and get home before her son's 7th birthday so he could share his birthday with his mum one last time. This looked very unlikely as there was an issue getting a stretcher through the flat door due to where the flat was in the block. Getting her home was not happening. Anna took ownership of the problems and sorted all this out. She worked so hard to make sure she could get back home quickly, including going on the ambulance with her, as she was so stressed with it all. I am not ashamed to say I cried when I heard what Anna had done to make this happen.
Anna is a credit to PAH. Sadly, our daughter-in-law passed away with her family and children at her side. Just before Christmas, Anna contacted us to say how sorry she was to hear that our daughter-in-law had passed away. She said the ward team had been thinking about them and had collected some treats and toys for the children for Christmas. She delivered a hamper and presents for our grandchildren to the flat on her way home from work. Words will never be enough to thank them all. I want them to know our daughter-in-law was so grateful for all they did to ensure she got back home. As a family, we are so thankful for the care and support Anna and her team showed us all. We will never forget what they did, especially Anna.
