As a leader, Ann encourages her patients and peers, supporting and inspiring them to excel in their careers and to make an impact on the nursing profession.
I have worked with Ann since her sophomore year of nursing school and witnessed her outstanding leadership experience firsthand. Ann's leadership journey began when she was elected vice president of her high school class and continued when she joined the NSA, eventually becoming chapter secretary and Northwest PA Regional Coordinator. During her clinical rotation with me, Ann was an incredibly driven student who was dedicated to improving the nursing profession and the world around her. As a leader, Ann encourages her patients and peers, supporting and inspiring them to excel in their careers and to make an impact on the nursing profession.
Ann had the privilege of participating in a global health program in Argentina, where she gained insight into cultural disparities between Argentina and the United States, as well as between urban and rural communities within Argentina. Ann's experience included engaging with a range of government officials and developing an understanding of the funding and quality challenges involved in providing healthcare in the country. Ann is now able to apply these lessons learned to the care she provides to a diverse patient community during her current clinical rotations, displaying cultural competence and compassion toward all patients.
Ann has gone above and beyond her academic responsibilities by gaining healthcare experience as a patient care technician and student nurse extern. These additional opportunities provide Ann with invaluable opportunities to apply her clinical knowledge to direct patient care and further refine her practice. Ann's commitment to these roles while completing a rigorous academic program, combined with her additional service to the University and School of Nursing through various leadership roles, demonstrates her dedication to leaving a significant impact on the nursing profession.
