The morning after a night of my sweet little girl slowly dying and now change of shift from one “Angel” of Nurse to another, Anika Hubbard takes over the care of my dying daughter. She is so tremendously caring, compassionate, soft spoken, and gentle- not just in her presence but to all of us that came together as family and friends, retired doctors that came in to say their goodbyes. She is assisting so peacefully the doctor in the guidance of allowing N to take her journey to Heaven, standing by taking orders and adjusting the medication pumps that allowed N to be comfortable. It is so peaceful, without a struggle as she slowly took her last breaths, Anika stood by N’s side as well as being there in her quiet but attentive presence to all of us. Anika, with our doctor as he promised, guiding every step of the way for N’s final breath and her sweet soul taken to Heaven at 1:35pm that afternoon.

Anika explained every step of what was to take place and always offered to complete each step by herself if we were not able. We chose to complete every step- to wrapping N in a new blanket given by a family that Anika brought so graciously in for me to wrap N in before we placed her in the white zipper bag. Every sensitive caring step so gently and with so much love the guidance from Anika made everything so completely possible and knowing it was all done to the highest most loving satisfaction and respect and with Honor to N’s little body.

I cannot describe in any other words how perfect Anika as a Nurse is, was and should be recognized for her excellence taking care of her dying patient and us as family and friends. Anika is a true DAISY Nurse!
