As an expecting first-time mother, my labor experience had many curveballs, which led to an unexpected C-Section. I struggled to mentally accept the sudden change of events and was still processing all that occurred after the OR room. I was blessed with a nurse, Angela, who took care of me for two days in mother baby unit. She gave such a compassionate, loving, trusting, and genuine aura around me and shared her own personal C-Section story journey that encouraged me to feel safe and calm. In her exact words, she gave me the words I needed to hear, "You are safe now". In the span of only two shifts, she became the pillar of light and laughs while providing amazing care every step of the way. She made my experience of giving birth to my first child a happy and proud journey. I will always to grateful to Angela and hope she is recognized by others.
