This would not have occurred if it weren’t for Angie’s perseverance, follow-up, engaging and supporting her team, prepping the staff and unit to always be survey-ready.
Angie Scowden is the Nurse Manager of the Inpatient Behavioral Health unit, and I am so proud of how she has grown over the past year in her role. I appreciate how she takes the time to listen to her team, support them, guide them, and also hold them accountable to ensure we have a safe environment for our patients and staff. She has to stay vigilant with seeing things on the unit that others may have their blinders on, as the safety of staff and patients is critical.

Angie has worked very closely with the public safety and facilities team on enhancing not only the physical environment but the milieu of the unit as well. This past year, we had both the Ohio Department of Health and Joint Commission Survey, with no findings from a physical, environmental, and nursing perspective. This is not an easy thing to achieve as these regulatory bodies look at every inch of the unit and every piece of documentation. This would not have occurred if it weren’t for Angie’s perseverance, follow-up, engaging and supporting her team, prepping the staff and unit to always be survey-ready. She engages her team to solicit feedback and then works with them to find the best solution possible. Her consistency, unwavering dedication, and perseverance have made this unit function at the highest level from a safety, quality, and outcome stance. The unit functions at a high level, and that is because of her leadership. She consistently follows up on things, reaches out to those to address issues or seek advice/support, and truly cares about the staff and patients. I am so blessed and honored to work with such an amazing nurse leader.
