She was so efficient as not to keep me awake too long, to make it easier for me to get back to sleep.
I was one of her first patients when she started at this hospital. I was blown away by not only her knowledgeable of medications, tests, reasons why things and processes are done and could explain in simple yet very understandable explanations, but Angela's bedside manner with me, as a patient, was not only supportive and professional, but made me feel like she actually cared about me and my wellbeing, if I was being treated. Pain/symptoms managed, and getting me things I asked for, but that she DID ACTUALLY care about me and my wellbeing, and went above and beyond to make sure I was as comfortable as possible.
I let the Charge Nurse know after that first time that I believed Angela was going to be one of the best nurses on the unit and a great addition to the MedSurg department. I have had Angela several times over the past couple of months, and she continues to impress me and blow me away (and my family). We all trust her and know that we are in the best care when she is my nurse, and I still firmly believe she is one of the BEST nurses on this unit, which is hard, as there are so many great nurses. Angela should definitely be awarded/recognized for her professionalism and how much her patients truly do appreciate all that she does for us.
Angela knows that I suffer from severe pain, and she is always on top of my pain medication regimen and makes a conscious effort to be on time when my medications are due. Last night is a prime example of how she knew the regimen was not working as best as it could, and I was still in more pain than normal, so she made sure to advocate for me with the doctor and others, to let them know and understand how much the new regimen I was trying needed to be taken seriously and given to me as close as possible to when everything was due, even if I was asleep. She asked me if I wanted to be woken up and given my meds if I was asleep or to be left alone, and I told her to please wake me up, so she was in my room at all hours of the night, on time with my medications, water, and anything else I needed. She was so efficient as not to keep me awake too long, to make it easier for me to get back to sleep. Because of her, I can already feel more pain relief than I was expecting today. Her diligence and patient care truly are top-notch.
