During my second admission at St. Francis Hospital within a few weeks, I met a very compassionate, highly educated RN with superb bedside manners, friendly, always had a big smile on her face from the start of her shift until she's turning the patient over to the next nurse at shift change. I have a serious medical condition that consists of a lot of complications and around the clock care by medical staff. Angel is someone who, for three days, consistently mentored me on do's and don'ts to prep and get me ready for what I'd be facing after my discharge date. She is very knowledgeable about my medical condition and what it entails. There were times when I would be sad, worried, and concerned about my health and Angel would sense that and talk with me and encourage me. Of course, she provided awesome nursing service as well but to have someone listen to me during my time of sickness and provide me with reliable information was so very heartwarming and remarkable.
I would love it if my favorite RN at St. Francis Hospital would receive the DAISY Award and I attended the ceremony. I know first hand that she totally exemplifies professionalism, top-notch nursing skills, excellent customer service skills, good mannerisms, and able to make patients feel safe and well cared for during their time away from home. I will always remember Angel and the compassion that she provided me during my stay at St. Francis Hospital and I'm very thankful that she was my nurse/caretaker for three days.
