I want to nominate Ange Victor for the DAISY Award. Ange is an exceptional charge nurse who consistently goes above and beyond to support our unit staff, and she does so with a genuine smile and a warm presence. Her leadership is steady, compassionate, and grounded in a deep commitment to both her team and her patients. Recently, our unit cared for a patient who was non-English-speaking and communicated only in Creole. During attempts to use the Martti interpreter, the patient became increasingly upset. Ange immediately stepped in, recognizing the urgency of the situation. As a Creole-speaking nurse herself, she was able to bridge the language barrier and communicate directly with the patient. Through her conversation with him, Ange discovered that the interpreter had not accurately conveyed important information. She calmly and clearly explained the patient's plan of care, ensuring he fully understood what was happening. Most importantly, she earned his trust, allowing him to feel safe and respected, and to be willing to receive the care he needed. Ange's actions demonstrated true compassion, cultural competence, and dedication to delivering exceptional patient-centered care. She is an outstanding nurse and highly deserving of the Daisy Award.
