Andrew is someone who has an ever-present smile on his face and goes above and beyond for all our patients and their families.
When you think of the attributes you hope to find in a student nurse, you think of someone who is kind, caring, compassionate, dedicated, flexible, a team player, patient, and professional with attention to detail. Andrew Arroyo is all those things and more. From his first day working with our very vulnerable patient population in the PACTC as a nursing attendant, he has shown he is everything that we hope to see in our future nurses.

Andrew is someone who has an ever-present smile on his face and goes above and beyond for all our patients and their families. His calm demeanor allows him to connect with our patients and, in turn, keep them calm during what can often be a difficult experience for them. He is frequently sought out by patients and families during their visits within the HemOnc division and puts everyone he is around at ease.

Andrew is always collaborative with his colleagues and finds the “yes” when he is working. There is no task too big or too small for Andrew, and he is consistently putting the needs of others before himself to make sure that our patients are receiving the best possible care. Andrew will always take the initiative and can be found completing a task before he is even asked to do it.

Andrew never loses sight of the fact that we are caring for someone’s child and goes above and beyond every time he’s at work. If Andrew’s attributes in his current role are any indication of the nurse he will be, he will have a bright future as an RN. We are incredibly fortunate to have Andrew as part of our Northwell team, and he is more than deserving of the DAISY Student Nurse award and recognition.
