She leads by example and often teaches new team members through demonstration or a helping hand.
Andrea is the Clinical Nurse Educator for Labor and Delivery. To say Andrea is just the Clinical Nurse Educator is an understatement. Andrea goes above and beyond for her unit as a whole. Andrea serves as a role model for all staff members and advocates for what is best for them and their patients.

She can always be called upon in an emergency, and she will jump into action and help with patient care. She leads by example and often teaches new team members through demonstration or a helping hand. She welcomes questions and helps problem-solve with staff members in all situations. Andrea can always be counted on to lend a listening ear.

Whether a problem is identified or someone needs to vent frustration or talk about something troubling, Andrea is there. As a peer supporter, Andrea reaches out to staff and ensures their well-being in the event of negative patient outcomes. Andrea goes above and beyond to solve problems. She brings insight and knowledge when solving problems, and she always advocates for the staff and what's best for them.

When discussing practice change, she uses her background as a staff nurse to anticipate any potential issues with the practice change. She is always aware of how changes may affect staff members and their abilities to provide safe patient care. If a problem is presented, Andrea comes to the table with a proposed solution. She understands that her proposal may not fix the problem, but it's a starting point to resolution. Andrea has a wealth of knowledge. She tirelessly runs simulations, teaches NRP, assists with new product implementation within the unit, teaches strip reviews, and so much more.

During simulations, Andrea makes sure that the learning environment allows attendees to learn and ask questions. Her knowledge base regarding patients in labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborns is exceptional. While teaching NRP, Andrea is patient and encouraging. Even in the learning setting, she understands that staff members may be nervous. Andrea makes the atmosphere as relaxed as possible to help facilitate the learning process, while encouraging staff to realize how knowledgeable they truly are in the situation.

Within the scope of implementing new products, Andrea always takes a hands-on approach. She demonstrates and sends out detailed emails regarding the use and answers any and all questions with a positive attitude/outlook. When teaching strip reviews, Andrea keeps the discussion moving with great insight into the situation in a past tense setting. She understands that these scenarios are essential to building a staff member's future practice. Andrea does all these amazing things while continuing her education and growing within her own practice. Andrea brings her whole self to her position as Clinical Nurse Educator.
