Andrea Roufogalis from the wound care team has gone above and beyond to help the SICU team. When I mentioned I needed to add some wound care products for our new Omnicell supply. She sprung into action. She quickly realized that we were missing many standard items and decided to help us with all of our items in our Omnicell. For 6 months prior to the arrival of the new Omnicell supply cabinets we met almost every Thursday from 3-4pm to go through every item in our old Omnicell supply. She had an excel sheet organized with all the items in logistics, color coded with other like items, IMF #s for every product, and cross-matched every item in our old Omnicell system to what we needed for our new Omnicell. This was by no means close to being in her job description, but a willingness to go above and beyond knowing these efforts would benefit the veterans. She has integrity and commitment to do the right thing no matter what it takes. She knew by helping the SICU Omnicell project she was advocating for our veterans to get the supplies they needed at the bedside and reduce the stress and frustration of the nursing staff. It is obvious that she strives for the highest quality and continuous improvement in every aspect. I have witnessed her commitment to serve the veterans and their families with her excellent bedside care, the education to the bedside nurse, and our improvement for the SICU supply Omnicell project. I am still shocked and overwhelmed with her extraordinary efforts to help the veterans, veterans families, the bedside nursing staff, nurse managers, and our logistics team. The efforts have already been seen at the bedside with products being available for prevention of wounds rather than just treatment of wounds. The Veterans are receiving the right products for their unique care needs Personally, I want to thank Andrea for helping me and the SICU staff with the Omnicell project and all wound care needs in the SICU. We couldn't have done it without her.
