What stood out wasn't just Andrea's clinical knowledge, but the way she ensured the patient felt seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
This was the third birth that I had the privilege of Andrea being my nurse. My baby was born just before Andrea's shift started. Our labor nurse knew we loved Andrea and let her know my delivery would be close to when she'd arrive. Andrea came to work a little early so she could be there for my delivery. I was so surprised when she came in and was so glad she was there. She was so supportive throughout my delivery. We waited until birth to find out our baby's gender, and we announced it to our other children at the hospital when they came to meet their new sibling. Andrea found a baby girl's onesie for us and wrapped her up in a blanket so our older kids could unwrap it and be surprised. She truly went above and beyond to make this moment memorable for us. This doesn't even count the way she treated me with such dignity as I got out of bed for the first time, used the bathroom, and showered. She eased my fears post-birth about my recovery and took such great care to make sure I was healing the way I needed to. She cared for our sweet baby so well, too. She made us feel like we were right at home. Andrea will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I'm nominating Andrea for the DAISY Award for the outstanding support she provided not only to the patient but also to me, her coworker, during an incredibly intense situation in the ER. We were caring for a patient experiencing serious complications following childbirth, a scenario that's not common in our department. I found myself feeling overwhelmed, and that's when Andrea stepped in. Even though she wasn't assigned to our area and was already assisting with another case in the ER, she immediately responded when I asked her a question about the patient. Without hesitation, she joined me and took the lead with compassion and expertise. What stood out wasn't just Andrea's clinical knowledge, but the way she ensured the patient felt seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. She stayed with us every step of the way, helping to coordinate care, keeping communication clean, and supporting both the patient and me throughout the entire experience. Andrea went above and beyond in every sense, and I'm incredibly grateful to have had her by my side. She's a true "Rockstar", and her dedication and compassion absolutely deserve to be recognized!

Well, Andrea was my night nurse. I went in because my water broke. Mind you, it's been 12 years since my last labor. She was on call that night. She came in and just made us feel so comfortable. She introduced herself, asked my husband and me a few questions, and got straight to work. She made sure everything was stocked up. She got me the ball and showed me different positions to handle the labor pains. Showed us where to get the juice, ice, water, etc. She made us feel at home. As the contractions intensified, she was just so caring and alert. Now is the time for delivery. Again, 12 years since I did this! She was just so positive, motivational, and calm! She made me feel so comfortable! Everything went well. Time to start breastfeeding. Man, where do I start? How does he latch! How do I know if he latched correctly? She had answers to all my questions. All of them! The next day, the daytime nurse came in, nothing like Andrea. I couldn't wait for her night shift to start. Nighttime came, here comes Andrea! We were so happy to have her again! She is so tentative and caring! She definitely made my experience great.
