Andrea is the Hep C Nurse in the Vallejo Med 5 GI Clinic. She has been in this role for approximately 3 years and came from the GI/SPU Department. Andrea is a caring, kind, and compassionate caregiver. She is always looking for ways to give our members the best care experience she can. She works tirelessly to maneuver her schedule to accommodate member needs, staying late and starting early if needed. She is always the first person to jump in to offer help and is currently assisting with motility cases, will offer help with paracentesis patients, and is always a resource for the team. I have been privy to overhearing a few discussions where the MA staff will come to her for advice about a member issue, and no matter what she is doing, she stops and gives sound and thoughtful advice for next steps, and is never too busy for any questions. She will go as far as to call to find out the answer if it is not known to her. A few weeks back, she had a member who was upset that he was unable to get into a motility appointment sooner and, unfortunately, had misunderstood his PCP about next steps. Andrea, ever so conscientious about her care, came to me about how to best help the member who was upset and confused and lashing out via phone and staff messages. Andrea was able to maneuver the situation and provide the best care to a member who was struggling to find the care he needed. I always appreciate her willingness to go above and beyond for her peers and for her patients.
