Andre exemplifies the spirit of nursing through his actions, attitude, and commitment to excellence.
I would like to recognize Andre for his outstanding teamwork, compassion, and dedication to supporting his colleagues.
As members of the Resource Team, we rarely get the chance to work on the same unit at the same time. I had the pleasure of working with Andre for the first time since he joined the team, and his support throughout the day was truly exceptional. He checked in on me multiple times and even helped me transfer my patient to a wheelchair—without being asked, simply because he saw a teammate in need.
Later that same shift, I floated mid-shift from PICU to CVICU to admit a baby from the NICU. While I was drawing labs, Andre appeared again—to check on me, and he gladly helped me run my labs. There was no obligation for him to assist, but he did so out of pure kindness and teamwork.
My next experience with Andre was during PICU Skills Day. He was fully engaged with the PICU Educator, asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating a genuine eagerness to learn. His presence and attitude were a great example of what it means to be a nurse who not only cares for patients but also wants to help in any situation a patient is in need (and he knows you can only do that with proper training).
Andre exemplifies the spirit of nursing through his actions, attitude, and commitment to excellence. He is a true asset to our team and a deserving candidate for the DAISY Award.
