I would like to nominate Ana for the DAISY Award because she is the true definition of an extraordinary nurse. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside her every shift for the past three months in the Women’s PACU, and during that time, I’ve witnessed her incredible compassion, leadership, and work ethic every single day. As my preceptor, Ana has been a constant source of guidance and support—not just teaching clinical skills, but showing me how to lead with heart, advocate for patients, and be a team player. She always goes out of her way to help her coworkers, even when she’s managing a heavy workload herself. When she’s in charge, she takes on both patient care and administrative tasks to ensure the load is shared fairly across the unit.

One moment that stood out to me was when we received a patient in critical condition. It was an intense and high-pressure situation, but Ana stayed by my side the entire time. She supported me clinically and emotionally, making sure I had what I needed to care for the patient confidently and safely. Thanks to her calm leadership and quick actions, the patient stabilized and recovered without complications. It was a moment I’ll never forget because it showed me what true mentorship and teamwork look like. Ana consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, such as taking C-section moms to the NICU to see their babies before they go to the floor, creating meaningful experiences in moments of vulnerability. She’s always steps ahead, anticipating patient needs, arriving early, and never seeking recognition for the extra care she gives. Her selflessness, dedication, and passion for nursing make her not just a role model, but a nurse every patient and colleague is lucky to have. She is incredibly deserving of the DAISY Award.
