Back in the 1990’s and 2000s, we had a saying here when I worked as a social worker. It was a ‘sacred encounter.’ Yesterday, I was in a severe pain crisis, and my husband and Amy spent a lot of time with me while the staff was working very hard on trying to put my pain medication orders together.

She held my hands, had me look at her, had me do breathing exercises which were so helpful, and I had this vision...

Amy exemplified what a vision of a nurse ought to be… comforting, supportive, present, protective when I was out of my mind in pain. It was clearly a ‘Sacred Encounter!’

I had worked with Amy for years but on the other side as a patient, it is totally new and incredible.

Queen of the Valley is so fortunate to have Amy for 40 years! What a role model for other staff. She loves her staff and her patients. Thank you, Amy!
