The thought of becoming a mother was something I looked forward to with so much excitement and anticipation. However, I ended up in the hospital at 24 weeks gestation and was told my son, was in my birth canal due to an incompetent cervix and would have to be delivered. So there we were…in the NICU…a very scary place for brand new parents. Our first born child hooked up to so many machines. My husband and I devastated and filled with fear as we witnessed our tiny child fighting for his life.
Words cannot begin to express the gratitude I feel for Amy Panter and the entire NICU staff at St. Luke's during one of the most difficult times of our lives. A time that I can only describe as an emotional whirlwind, Amy not only had the clinical excellence, she also possessed such a gentle, calm and caring presence, something we really needed at a time when we felt like our world was falling apart. She went above and beyond caring for our son for the short time that he survived in the NICU. I honestly don't know what I would have done without the care and compassion of not only Amy, but everyone that was a part of the team that cared for our son. We truly feel Amy and the entire NICU staff at St. Luke's had our best interest at heart at all times. I truly do feel like he was cared for as if he were their own child.
The kindness and compassion shown will never be forgotten….
