Amy's empathy, lack of judgment, and wealth of knowledge helped me understand that feeding my child was the most important thing.
Amy is the reason I can breastfeed my son exclusively at nearly 7 months old. Something I could never have imagined when I first started seeing her at 5 days postpartum. Amy's warmth, kindness, patience, and genuine care for my family bring tears to my eyes as I think back to those incredibly difficult first months postpartum. As a healthcare provider myself with years of experience as a postpartum nurse, I knew breastfeeding would be challenging, but never to the degree of difficulty I experienced. As new moms, we often put much pressure on ourselves to breastfeed; however, Amy's empathy, lack of judgment, and wealth of knowledge helped me understand that feeding my child was the most important thing. And ultimately paved a path to exclusive breastfeeding for me in the future.

Over my first two months postpartum, I worked with Amy multiple times, both in-person and by phone consult, often for over an hour at a time, well beyond what would be expected of her. When my breastfeeding needs surpassed what she was able to care for alone, she referred me to two separate specialists. She helped coordinate scheduling. She called and checked in when she didn't need to. Amy created an environment I felt safe discussing my postpartum mental health struggles in, ultimately encouraging me to seek help for this as well. I still think of her often as I breastfeed my son; how different things would be had I not been so lucky as to find her. Amy has inspired me to obtain my CLC, so I can hopefully do for someone else what she has done for me. I will be forever grateful for the true compassion I received in Amy's care.
