Amy is a float nurse who saw a need on a unit and shared some ideas with the manager. Subsequently, she was asked to assist in that unit for a while. Amy regularly goes above and beyond for the patients and staff. She comes in every day with a positive attitude and a smile.

Specifically, there was a patient who was hospitalized for several months due to placement issues. This patient had a psychiatric history and was prone to emotional and sometimes violent outbursts. Amy, along with the team, supported this patient through many of these outbursts and created a safe space for her. Amy would wash the patient’s clothes for her, bring her things for entertainment, introduce new faces to her so she would feel safe with them, take her outside for some fresh air, and do little things that we take for granted, like having a snack of her choosing.

Amy even continued to assist with this patient when she was moved to another unit due to medical necessity, sitting on the floor with the patient and talking, comforting during a particularly bad outburst. Amy is the epitome of kind, caring, and compassionate.
