Her ability to bring peace and connection in a fast-paced environment reflects her deep compassion and professionalism.
On May 29, System Health Solutions celebrated an inspiring moment at Spring Mill Surgery Center by presenting Amy Harmon, a devoted nurse, with the prestigious DAISY Award. The heartfelt recognition was made even more memorable as her husband joined SHS leadership and team members in a surprise ceremony to honor her outstanding contributions to patient care.
Harmon was nominated by a patient who praised her calming presence and the simple, powerful gesture of making eye contact and offering a reassuring touch before surgery. Her ability to bring peace and connection in a fast-paced environment reflects her deep compassion and professionalism.
Harmon’s manager reflected on her unique path to nursing: “This is Amy’s second career. She was a teacher, and I think it’s evident by how calm and collected she is. You can’t fake that kind of presence. Patients feel it when she looks them in the eye and takes the time to connect.” She added that Harmon’s kindness and steady demeanor have made a lasting impact on both patients and team members, and expressed how grateful the team is that she chose to bring her talents to Spring Mill.
The DAISY Award, established by the family of Patrick Barnes, honors nurses who provide extraordinary care and compassion. Harmon’s recognition reflects the extraordinary care that she provides patients and their loved ones every day, noted the director of Experience Design.
The senior vice president, SHS Clinical Operations, presented Harmon with her DAISY certificate, pin, and The Healer’s Touch sculpture, symbolizing the bond between nurses and their patients.
Heartfelt congratulations, Harmon, on receiving this well-earned recognition.
