She has absolutely cultivated an environment in the Endoscopy Department where mutual respect, trust, and professional development are not only encouraged but actively modeled through our multidisciplinary team members.
I am writing this to let you know of some exemplary staff in the GI lab. After retiring from my position as Operating Room Clinical Educator in 2023, I began volunteering at ProjectCure (projectcure.org). This organization sends much-needed medical supplies, equipment, and surgical instruments to countries that request help.

We received a shipment of colonoscopes, gastroscopes, and GI lab equipment. My knowledge of the GI lab is limited so I asked the Clinical Coordinator - Amy Granato if she and any of her staff would be willing to volunteer some time to identify and check the scopes and equipment. She immediately said yes and said she knew some of her staff would be willing to participate. In November 2024, Amy and 5 of her staff members joined me at Project Cure on a Wednesday evening after their shift. It was wonderful to have staff dedicated to the endoscopy service. Their knowledge was crucial in determining what equipment was usable and what needed to be removed. As a Magnet hospital, Amy demonstrated transformational leadership (#1) by taking her dedication to endoscopy and encouraging her staff to assist in the community. The staff demonstrated exemplary professional practice (#3) by devoting time to help communities in foreign countries in need of GI lab equipment.

I nominate Amy Granato for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. She is an exceptional clinical leader for the endoscopy department. She is always available to her team members and fosters an environment of open communication and collaboration. Amy has been my boss for around 3 years now and there is no one more deserving of this award. With her knowledge and guidance, she has encouraged me to grow into the confident certified nurse I am today. She has absolutely cultivated an environment in the Endoscopy Department where mutual respect, trust, and professional development are not only encouraged but actively modeled through our multidisciplinary team members.

I am nominating Amy Granato from the Endoscopy Department for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. The Endoscopy department is so lucky to have a leader like Amy. Our unit's culture is driven by Amy's character. Amy is a leader who is accessible and responsive to her staff's needs. Amy is always willing to lend a helping hand in order to help a busy and fast-paced unit like ours run efficiently. Some examples of this are when Amy has volunteered to transport our patients back to their inpatient rooms when transport is very busy in order to help everyone out. Another example of Amy's accessibility is her willingness to participate in patient care and assist in cases when needed. Amy often relieves the procedure rooms for lunch breaks and is an excellent resource in difficult procedure cases. She has such a passion for GI and is so knowledgeable in our specialty. Her passion and positive attitude have created a unit that is more like a family. From our unit's monthly book clubs to our Friendsgiving parties, our unit is driven by respect and kindheartedness towards each other.
