Like most Nurses, she will say she was just doing her job! As a Nurse and a patient, I know she did more.
As a living donor patient, I can say there is no one more deserving of this award. I am very familiar with the DAISY Award. I myself started the DAISY Award at Cambridge Health Alliance many years ago.

I had the pleasure of meeting Amy at my first all-day meeting as a live donor. Amy was not aware that I was a nurse and a surgical nurse for most of my career. That day, my journey began. Amy, throughout the process, always treated me with respect and courtesy.

Her warm smile and compassionate phone calls with each step in the process always made me feel comfortable. She would call and update me exactly when I needed that call to see where I was in the process. Her anticipation of my needs with compassion and respect was beyond a typical day as a donor coordinator. She also acknowledged and apologized when things did not go as expected. None of which was her fault.

Her listening skills were exceptional, and she accepted some advice on changing things.  Every phone call that she made to me, she asked how my husband was doing. When she had good news, the day I found out I was a match and approved by the transplant team, it did not matter that it was at 7 pm at night, and I knew her shift was over. She wanted to share the great news, told me it was important, and knew I would want to know right away.

Having given out the DAISY Award in the past, there is no one more deserving than Amy. Like most Nurses, she will say she was just doing her job! As a Nurse and a patient, I know she did more. Beth Israel Hospital and the Transplant Team are lucky to have her working there.
