I am so glad I had Amy as my nurse. Several unexpected events happened, but Amy handled them all with compassion and understanding. There were moments as simple as encouraging me through my contractions. Then there were moments like when the Cook catheter got stuck, and I was screaming in pain. She quickly and calmly acted to resolve the problem. The biggest reason I believe she deserves this award is that when things led to me needing a C-section, she assured me she would be by my side through the whole thing. When the C-section required me to get general anesthesia, and they had to send my mom out of the room quickly in the middle of the procedure, I knew Amy would still be there for the baby and me. She even suggested that my mom leave my phone with her so she could take pictures of my baby, since I couldn’t see him right away. This meant the whole world to me, knowing I had someone by my side whom I could trust and rely on as I experienced one of the hardest moments of my life.
