September 2026 Honoree
Amy Brilhart, RN
Amy was honored for her extraordinary compassion and her ability to meet patients where they are and help them see a brighter future. Nominated by a grateful former patient she cared for on several occasions, Amy was remembered as "always pleasant, kind, and understanding." It was her calm and composed presence during a moment of deep distress that left a lasting imprint - the kind of care that stays with a patient long after discharge.
When the patient became very upset, Amy heard them crying and came quickly to their room. She sat beside them and listened with patience and care, staying until they began to calm and offering comfort that never felt rushed.
The impact of that time together was profound. What had felt hopeless before their conversation began to feel possible afterward. Captured in the patient's own words, a renewed belief that their "situation and my life can and will get better." That transformation, from despair to possibility, is the heart of extraordinary nursing.
For those who know Amy, this moment speaks to who she has always been as a nurse. Amy started at Carrier in 2006 and has worked in several units through the hospital, bringing with her years of valuable experience and a deep commitment to learning and growing.
What drew her to nursing was an interest in health, nutrition, and medicine, but what keeps her here is purpose. As Amy shares, "I enjoy working with this population and the challenges it brings both professionally and personally. I enjoy psych nursing because I can provide comfort while instilling hope to patients at their most vulnerable."
Thank you, Amy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
