She comforted me and kept my husband and me calm during the procedure.
I had a wonderful, healthy pregnancy, until I didn’t. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia, and we had to be transferred to your hospital for an induction to deliver our little girl earlier than expected. While I was there, I was blessed to be paired with the most amazing nurse, Amber, not one, but two nights in a row! We had the best experiences with her. We laughed and joked and sang together throughout the night.
Initially, I was doing well with the labor, but on the second night, Amber quickly recognized that I was not acting like myself, nor was my appearance the same as the previous night. I was swelling drastically, slurring my words, I had stopped producing urine as I had been, I was falling asleep during conversation, and overall just feeling very unwell.
My husband and family grew increasingly concerned about my status, and Amber alerted the doctors. I was becoming magnesium toxic. Amber advocated for me. I finally had my daughter in the wee hours of the morning, born by cesarean section with Amber by my side. She comforted me and kept my husband and me calm during the procedure. I could not have hoped for a better nurse during that time.
I truly don’t know what I would have done without her. I am beyond grateful that God placed her into our lives. If anyone deserves this award, it is our Amber. She is not only an amazing nurse, but such a wonderful person in general. Our whole family fell in love with her bubbly, outgoing personality. The compassion she showed me as a patient and the passion she has for her job are top-tier. Everyone needs a little Amber in their lives. We cannot wait to tell our daughter the story of her birth and all about our Amber.
