I have worked under Amanda as a tech many times, and every single shift I’m struck by how kind, empathetic, and professional she is with our patients, even the tough ones. Amanda remains calm and quick to act in emergencies, always carrying herself with integrity and genuine concern for the feelings of others. Whenever I see her name above mine on the assignment sheet, especially on those chaotic days with overwhelming ratios, I know it’s going to be a better shift.

One moment that will forever stand out to me was when we cared for a sweet woman back in June, a patient who, unfortunately, began to decline. Amanda went above and beyond to advocate for her, ensuring she never fell through the cracks despite how busy our shift was. She stood by her side, comforting her through her pain. She made sure the patient was fed when she didn’t have the voice to ask or the strength to do it herself. She kept open, frequent communication with the patient’s daughters, making sure they were informed and supported throughout.

Amanda poured her heart into caring for this patient every time she was assigned to her, and she was genuinely heartbroken when we learned she had passed away on our day off. Amanda doesn’t just pass meds or troubleshoot problems; she sees her patients as whole people, and she cares for them with compassion, dignity, and unwavering dedication.

She is the example I use when I talk about what a truly great nurse looks like, and the standard I hold myself to as I grow in my own nursing career.
