She holds herself to a high standard. Integrity is not something that you do it is a piece of who you are, and this is a big piece of who Mandy is as a person and nurse.
Mandy cared for me in the critical care unit. My presentation was a difficult one to diagnose and treat. She cared for me with compassion and determination to make me better.  She cared for my physical and emotional wellbeing which are both important in healing. I was comforted and confident in the care she gave me.

My presentation was a difficult one to manage. She cared for me with determination. She contacted a provider who came and sat at my bedside and answered my many questions that could have waited until day shift rounds.

Mandy is a nurse to her soul. She had a patient that came in who had emergent cardiac intervention it was quickly realized that the outcome was going to lead to end of life. While continuing to do everything she could for the patient she also cared for his family. She supported and prepared his family for what she knew was coming and allowed them to be present and have meaningful time with him. After the patient passed, she continued to support the family they were very appreciative of her.

Mandy will always do the right thing. She holds herself to a high standard. Integrity is not something that you do it is a piece of who you are, and this is a big piece of who Mandy is as a person and nurse. Recently Mandy had a patient that was very ill. She called the MD 2-3 times because she knew that there was something that needed to be addressed as the patient was not improving. Mandy reached out to the other service that was consulting on the patient (Critical Care). The provider from that other service came to see the patient and with testing it was determined that the patient had ischemic bowel and needed surgery. Mandy, because of her persistence, saved this patient's life.

Mandy has a great deal of compassion and empathy for all her patients. She meets them where they are and delivers care that is patient-centered. Mandy is highly competent. She has been a preceptor for new nurses to CCU and our senior partnership students. Often Mandy is requested. She has a reputation for providing an experience so the learner can learn and grow in a safe environment but also receive the needed feedback to improve and grow.

When Mandy is presented with this award she will say "I don't deserve this. I was just doing my job" She always gives credit to her team. Mandy is kind and uplifts those around her through encouragement.
