Amanda called the next day to check on me after my wife’s passing. She also attended her funeral, which meant a lot to our family.
My wife was in the hospital and dealing with a serious illness. I had finally been able to take a break and grab something to eat. My hands shake really badly so it is difficult for me to prepare a plate of food, let alone eat after I have fixed it. Amanda saw me struggling to fix a plate and she came over to help. Due to my concern over my wife’s health, I began to cry. Amanda continued to help me. She consoled me also. She asked what I wanted to drink, and then she prepared that as well. I moved to pay for my food and drink, and she insisted that she would pay. I could not stop crying because of my concern over my wife’s health. She has struggled with a great deal of issues for several years. Amanda made sure I was situated, and she told me she would come to my wife’s room to meet her. And she did. She followed through. Amanda was not responsible for my wife’s care, but she came to check on both of us. Later, my wife was moved to the ICU, and Amanda came to check on my wife there as well.

Unfortunately, my wife passed away later. We had been married for 53 years. Amanda called the next day to check on me after my wife’s passing. She also attended her funeral, which meant a lot to our family. There is no doubt that Amanda went above and beyond. She took care of me even though I was not a patient. But she also came to check on my wife, while she was a patient…she was not one of Amanda’s patients. Amanda made an impact on me and my family in a way that won’t be soon forgotten.
