She has learned to manage difficult situations, hold people accountable, and deal with the responsibilities that come with her position with great competence.
I would like to nominate Amanda Mann for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award and highlight her contributions as the Assistant Nurse Manager on the 6th floor over the past few years. Her dedication and flexibility have truly been noticed. Amanda has consistently shown her willingness to step up during gaps in ANM leadership coverage, offering to cover shifts without hesitation. She swiftly accommodates shifting priorities and adjusts her schedule to meet the department's needs, which has been invaluable. As a new leader, I genuinely appreciate her openness to feedback and constructive criticism, and she has handled setbacks with grace and positivity. She consistently takes responsibility for her actions and has formed positive relationships with her staff, partnering with them to achieve unit goals.
Amanda's ability to use past experiences to improve future performance is commendable. One of the hardest qualities in leadership is emotional intelligence, which involves navigating and adapting to intense emotions, both one's own and others. The most challenging person we must manage is ourselves, which means owning mistakes and being transparent about them. Amanda exemplifies this skill, encompassing the ability to give and accept constructive feedback, reinforce team members, and speak up in a way that others listen to her message. She has learned to manage difficult situations, hold people accountable, and deal with the responsibilities that come with her position with great competence. Currently, Amanda is the nursing facilitator for the Senior Surgical Care Program, working closely with multidisciplinary partners to achieve excellence. It is important to recognize her hard work and dedication.
