Mandi went above and beyond to ensure her patient did not leave without transportation and would not have to figure out how to get her tire changed after such a traumatic event!
Our hospital had a patient who was seen in our emergency department after being assaulted in a local grocery store parking lot.
This patient visited our ER during a very busy time. Our rural hospital's charge nurse Mandi had come to the department to help the ER team provide care to multiple trauma patients who arrived at the same time and was assigned to care for this assault victim.
Fortunately, our patient was cleared for discharge without severe injuries. Mandi recognized that her patient's wounds were more than physical and supported her emotionally through this trauma.
During the visit Mandi learned that the assailant had not only injured her physically (and emotionally) but he had slashed her tire so she was without transportation to get home.

Mandi asked her husband, who also works for St Luke's, to escort the patient and make sure her tire was changed. Her valiant husband went to the Albertson's parking lot and fixed her tire so she could be on her way and return home safely.
I feel honored to know and work alongside nurses and team members who routinely go above and beyond to provide care like this to our community without hesitation.
Mandi consistently sets an example by serving others in this way, and her actions continually inspire everyone who has the privilege of working by her side to make these types of patient experiences a standard of care in McCall.
