Mandy’s life and legacy continue to shape our hospital and the community she loved.
Mandy (Amanda) Kingery, RN, BSN, PCC
Electrophysiology (EP) Patient Care Coordinator
Community Heart and Vascular Hospital (CHVH), Community Health Network
There are people who leave an indelible mark on everyone they encounter — caregivers whose compassion, skill, and humanity change the lives of both patients and colleagues. Mandy Kingery was one of those people. Her sudden and tragic passing this year left a profound void in the hearts of her CHVH family, but her impact continues to live on through the countless patients she cared for, the nurses she mentored, and the team she helped build.
Mandy served as the Patient Care Coordinator for Electrophysiology at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital, where she was instrumental in developing one of the largest and most respected EP programs in the Midwest. Her drive and leadership were foundational to its success. She led the Unit Practice Council, guided operational improvement initiatives, and consistently upheld the highest standards of patient care and quality. Mandy also obtained her Professional Development Certification, continuously advancing her knowledge and modeling lifelong learning for those around her. Her colleagues describe her as the calm in every storm.
She had a rare ability to see the “whole picture,” bringing professionalism, grace, and a steady hand to even the most challenging moments. She mentored nearly every nurse who entered the lab, nurturing them not just as clinicians, but as people. Mandy’s humor and warmth made every day brighter — her wit could dissolve tension, and her empathy created deep bonds of trust. She had the gift of explaining complex procedures in ways patients could understand, ensuring they felt seen, heard, and safe.
One teammate reflected, “Our EP lab was more like a family. We worked together like a fine-tuned instrument — it was almost as if we knew what each other was thinking. Mandy had brilliant communication skills and a beautiful way of making patients and staff feel at ease. She was also a rather empathetic and sensitive soul, and that just showed off her genuine humanness.”
Another shared, “Mandy embodied everything a nurse should be — knowledge to heal the physical, compassion to mend the emotional, and grace to heal the soul. Her passion for our department kept it flowing; her professionalism bridged difficult times into productivity. The only people she put above her department were her family, which makes her even more admirable.”
Mandy was a deeply cherished and valued member of our electrophysiology family. She was bright, compassionate, and dependable. The grief we feel is a testament to the depth of connection she had with so many who were fortunate to know her. We will keep honoring her memory through the care she inspired us to give. Her story, and even her final act of choosing to help others through the gift of organ donation, exemplify the spirit of nursing at its highest level — a true reflection of selfless compassion and lifelong service.
Mandy’s life and legacy continue to shape our hospital and the community she loved. She is remembered not only as a remarkable nurse but as a mentor, friend, wife, mother, and caregiver whose heart led everything she did. This posthumous DAISY Award nomination is offered in gratitude for Mandy’s unwavering commitment to her patients, her team, and her calling. Her light continues to guide us, and her memory remains forever part of the heart of Community.
