Amanda Helfin is the kind of nurse who quietly raises the standard of care for every nurse around her. She has a tendency to always go the extra mile for her patients, always with a smile. Her genuine compassion, calming presence, and dedication to her patients inspire every nurse around her to be the best versions of themselves.

Tonight she spent hours sitting with a patient on comfort care and his wife. She listened to the stories of their lives, their marriage, and their favorite memories together. The patient expressed that he wished he could share one last beer with his wife. Amanda jumped into action. She was able to get a doctor's order for Busch Light, which allowed security to leave to purchase a six-pack for the patient. Amanda made one wish her personal mission to fulfill, reminding all of us that nursing isn't just about treating the illness but honoring humanity. The smiles and laughter from the patient's room were palpable, leaving his loved ones with a memory that I am sure they will cherish forever.
