The doctor had a patient in the office who needed her LifePort reaccessed. The patient was wheelchair bound and totally dependent on her sister for care. The doctor wanted to prevent the patient from having to go to the main hospital for this procedure. Since accessing the lifeport can only be done by nurses who have been checked off on this procedure, we reached out to a few different departments within the hospital, and finally, the Cancer Center came to our rescue. Amanda Fruth stopped what she was doing and immediately came over to our office in the rain to help. She not only helped our patient and prevented her from having to make a trip to the main hospital in the rain, but she also showed the patient that everyone at SGMC Health is part of an amazing team.
