Then all the way to the scans, Amanda was keeping me calm and relaxed, holding my head still and reassuring me
I would like to nominate Amanda Calabro, who works on 3R. I was admitted for an operation. I stayed in the hospital for 9 weeks. I spent time in 5A, 5B, and 3D. I ended up in 3R for physio. I suffered a blood pressure drop of around 40. e.g., 180 to 140, which made me dizzy and not steady on my feet. I had two falls in 3R. On the day I fell, I went to the toilet to relieve myself. I collapsed in the bathroom, hitting my head, my shoulder, and my neck. I thought I broke my neck. Amanda came in and took control of the situation as I was having a panic attack. Amanda held my head steady. I was so worried – the doctors came in and put a sturdy neck brace on me. Then all the way to the scans, Amanda was keeping me calm and relaxed, holding my head still and reassuring me. I don’t know how I would have handled the situation. I have utmost respect for her as a nurse, and I thank her so much for the ability to take control of the situation. I am still recovering at home from the fall. Thank you, Amanda.
