Her actions exemplified not only professional excellence but true caring from the heart. She always goes above and beyond in her care.
Alyssa truly lives up to the motto of "Do something amazing today". Her actions exemplified not only professional excellence but true caring from the heart. She always goes above and beyond in her care.
She cared for my husband for two consecutive days, and she noticed that his condition was deteriorating. She notified the hospitalist of her concerns, who then notified the surgeon.
The surgeon made the difficult, but ultimately best, decision to do emergency surgery on a Sunday. Despite risks, it was the right call, and the surgery rectified a blocked, strangulated colon. Had the surgery waited another day, the risk could have been far greater and the outcome perhaps not the positive one that we have now.
I hugged this nurse and told her, "You may have saved a life today". I know that is why she is a nurse. We shared a very meaningful moment that I won't ever forget.
Thanks to Alyssa, the skilled, wonderful surgeon and excellent anesthetist, my husband of 47 years was recently released.
After her shift, she even came to check on my husband on days when he was not her responsibility. We are most grateful. This was medical care at its finest.
We are originally from Hawaii, and we want to say: Mahalo and Aloha nui loa (Thank you and fondest aloha).
One last note: Alyssa stayed an hour after her shift ended to be sure my husband was set up with the needed devices and monitors after surgery.
That's dedication and caring about her patient!
