I am writing to you at this time to share our experience at JFK. My husband was admitted through the emergency room to get a chest tube. Although it took a while to complete the procedure, all of the staff, including the emergency room staff, were wonderful, professional, caring, and concerned, and did everything they could to make a frightening situation more tolerable. After the procedure, he was transferred to the recovery room. He had surgery and went into a different unit. I cannot say enough for everyone. But the care and caring exhibited by Alyssa were so above and beyond. She was available to answer questions, listen to our concerns, and address all our requests in a very timely manner, demonstrating compassion, professionalism, patience, and expertise. She was a bright light in a very dark and scary situation, and we were grateful that she was our nurse. JFK is very lucky to have a nurse with such incredible skills and compassion on staff. I hope she gets the recognition that she deserves. She is a treasure. We were also impressed and delighted with Critine, who was the nursing assistant.
