Our daughter, who is just shy of 10 years old, had to have an endoscopy at Glenbrook. She was extremely anxious about it, and we were too. However, everyone explained the procedure, made her comfortable, and supported her. After the first 10 minutes, she seemed to be more at ease. I want to emphasize that every member of the staff we encountered was wonderful and "on their game". The experience truly ended on a high note with Alyssa as our nurse after the procedure. She was so kind and caring. She spoke to our daughter directly, and when she became concerned with the removal of her IV, Alyssa removed it without distress. She explained follow-up instructions to all of us, including our daughter. She was authentic and friendly, and we left feeling that if something went wrong at home, we could reach out without worrying about bothering the staff. She followed up with her the next day, which meant a great deal to her. Sending a personalized card really lets the patient feel special. And it really made us feel like, if we ever had to go back there for another procedure, we'd be supported and cared for.
