Aly Bruno was our nurse for our very critical sons who were born very prematurely at 26 weeks. She exemplifies professionalism, compassion, trustworthiness, and empathy. She is an excellent nurse, provides great care, and is a very hard worker. She took care of both my sons, but especially my one son, who got very sick. He needed a breathing tube to be put back in, a blood transfusion, and a lot of medications. My son had many IVs, and so his veins were not very good, but Aly got the IV on the first try, which relieved our anxiety and helped on a very stressful day. She explained everything so that we could understand exactly what was going on with his plan of care. She then took care of them when they were the most critical, and she was able to identify little changes, and we found her to be proactive rather than reactive like other nurses we had, which we can easily tell she was a nurse who really care about the whole family dynamic. Aly goes the extra mile, and we cannot recommend her enough to hopefully be the recipient of this recognition. My husband and I were reassured that our sons would be safe and okay during this extremely difficult and stressful time in our lives as we watched our son fight for his life. It’s nurses like Aly who stay in the fight with us and don’t take the easy way out. She makes Hackensack University Medical Center a great hospital, and so so lucky when she is assigned to our sons. She keeps us involved and informed in our sons' time here in the hospital, and we are very appreciative of that and all she does. Thank you very much.
