I am blessed to have Allison as one of my care team members. She greets me like a friend when I see her and helps get my mind off the stress of the procedure by checking in with me and sharing stories about our lives outside the hospital. She answers all my questions with sincerity, and I value and trust her judgment.
I especially appreciate that she's learned which doctors I like more than others and will subtly help me schedule my next appointment so that I can have my procedure with doctors I get along well with and trust to do a good job. Most importantly, she taught me how to advocate for myself, to speak up and tell my doctors what has helped make my procedures go more smoothly.
As a female patient, I have almost an ingrained response to agree or let things go when it comes to doctors and treatment, but Allison has shown me how to advocate for myself and feel more comfortable making suggestions and partnering with my care team. A thoracentesis is not a fun or comfortable procedure, but Allison and the rest of the amazing care team help make me feel at ease and welcomed every time I come in.
Thank you, Allison!
