We weren’t sure if the car seat we were using could be easily removed and reattached in the ambulance. Without hesitation, Allison offered to get her own child’s car seat from her car if we needed it.
Our sweet 1.5-year-old baby girl accidentally ingested her brother’s ADHD medication, and we immediately rushed to the hospital per Poison Control’s recommendation. We were greeted by many, but Allison’s vibrant energy and pleasant demeanor really stood out. Allison went above and beyond to ensure our baby was safe and as comfortable as she could be, given the circumstances.

Oswego Hospital does not have a pediatric wing; therefore, the nurses and physicians need to be well-versed in all age groups. I can confidently say her care was exceptional. Allison sympathized with our story and talked us through every step of the process. She made sure that our baby had everything she could possibly need. At one point, when I asked for a fan because she continued to overheat, Allison returned 10 minutes later with a handheld fan while waiting for a larger fan from another floor.

Allison also offered to help soothe our baby and even tried rocking her as she was so uncontrollably upset. Allison could sense that our bodies were growing tired from trying to calm her. At that point, our baby was basically crawling out of her own skin. Allison managed to check on our baby numerous times throughout our almost 12-hour stay, all while also taking care of her other patients. She never lost her caring, upbeat attitude and helped ease our nerves whenever any concern would arise. Our baby underwent multiple IV attempts as two of her IVs had blown due to her erratic body movements.

Allison was persistent and diligent in ensuring our baby did not suffer through this delicate process. Our baby then needed to be transferred to a pediatric facility. We weren’t sure if the car seat we were using could be easily removed and reattached in the ambulance. Without hesitation, Allison offered to get her own child’s car seat from her car if we needed it. Allison’s nursing skills are truly remarkable. She deserves to be recognized and praised immensely for the care she provided to our baby that day. Thank you, Allison, for waking up every day and choosing to take care of people, no matter the situation!
