I met Alison while she was tending to my preemie baby. I had to have an Emergency C-Section due to severe preeclampsia, and then my baby started to have late decelerations of her Heart Rate during my contractions. Alison stayed with my baby when I was not able to be there with her due to my own recovery. But once I was strong enough to visit my baby, Alison made sure I was able to sit and hold her skin to skin without interference. She made sure to check my blood Pressure while I was with my baby. She kept water warm and blankets nearby when my baby decided to pull out every IV that was placed. Alison was quick to spot the trouble and was quick to stop the bleeding and help my baby. Alison also nursed my fear and distress about my baby, not knowing me b/c we were separated so much. She gave me her personal felt material to wear on me so that my smell would transfer to it; we could place it in with my baby while I was away. Alison was also amazing about informing me that when my baby was transferred to the 3rd floor, she went with her. Alison helped me stay calm; she acknowledged my fear, worry, and sadness, listened to all my concerns, and helped walk me through my emotions. She would check in on me and my baby even when we weren’t her patients for the day to make sure we were doing ok.

Thank you, Alison, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
