I have had multiple stays at Encore Arkansas Heart Hospital in the past year. So many nurses have made an impact on my care and my heart. Alise is one of the most memorable. We butted heads in the first 2 encounters. I wanted the easy, pain-free, and least effort way to discharge. Alise knew that this path did not exist, nor would it benefit me. When I figured out that we both wanted the same thing, my healing and health, I closed my mouth and opened my ears. She gently encouraged me to put in the effort that I could and to be in charge of my Healthcare. This is not easy to do, especially when a patient is dealing with pain. She gave so much more than nursing. The next visit after, and each one that has followed, I looked forward to seeing Alise, knowing that we would work together and I would feel better quickly. I wanted to do the things she asked, even when she wasn't there. If someone asked why I did this or that, I told them because Alise asked me to. To have a repetitive illness is very exhausting and brings one to their own limits. To have a care team that encourages and makes them feel hope is essential. I will always seek out an "Alise" in any Healthcare situation for the rest of my life. She is so deserving.
