My experience at Bradley Medical Center was made significantly better because of Alicia's exceptional care, and I feel it is important to share the impact she had on my recovery. Alicia is the epitome of what compassionate and skillful nursing should be. She should be recognized for her dedication and excellence in patient care. I was hospitalized with pneumonia, and during my 8-day stay, Alicia was my nurse for 3 days. From the moment I met her, she made me feel at ease. As a patient, it can be overwhelming being in the hospital. It can bring feelings of isolation, stress, and fear. Alicia's professionalism, knowledge, and kindness gave me the reassurance I needed to diminish those feelings. One of the most thoughtful things Alicia did was her detailed attention to solutions when I was suffering from persistent migraine headaches that lasted 2.5 days. The headaches were so debilitating, and I couldn't seem to find any relief. Alicia noticed my discomfort immediately and went above and beyond to make me more comfortable. She brought me nausea medication, crackers, and covered the windows to block the light, brought a cold cloth for my head, and knew all the things to do to alleviate the pain. She didn't just manage symptoms. She takes time with her patients, bringing her knowledge and experience to each interaction. Alicia has many patients to care for, yet she managed to give me the level of care I needed. She is committed to her work, managing her time and responsibilities efficiently. Alicia also served as charge nurse and a mentor to a university nursing student during my stay. I was impressed by her mentoring skills and patience with the student nurse. She made sure the student understood the clinical aspects of nursing while modeling compassion and caring for patients. She also coordinated with the doctors, the respiratory department, pharmacy, and others with precision. She is a great teacher and leader. Alicia makes personal connections, like striking up conversations and being a good listener for her patients. By her last night taking care of me, I felt like I had made a new friend. She was a bright light during a difficult time for me. She embodies the qualities of compassion, skill, knowledge, and selflessness, all of which make an exceptional nurse. She was there for me when I needed it most, and I am forever grateful that our paths crossed. Thank you, Alicia!
