She is friendly, patient, and approachable. Moreover, her calm demeanor and soft-spoken voice often give the people around her a sense of ease.
Aleyamma has been working as a nurse for a fruitful 25 years now. She graduated in August of 1996 with over 2 years of experience in the Medical and Surgical Ward. She started as a staff nurse and then gradually earned her way up to the nursing administrative ladder at Saudi German Hospital Jeddah. After working as a clinical nurse, she became a charge nurse, then as a unit manager for a number of years, clinical instructor, and then got promoted as one of the nurse administrators in 2019. Aleyamma is also a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).

Junior nurses would often describe her as the “kindest and most hands-on leader.” When she was still a unit manager in 2nd Floor North General Ward, during her daily rounds in the morning, she would ensure that all of the patients were well-attended such as making sure that the bedding and linens were fresh and new, the surroundings clean, and the bed-bound patients had received their daily hygiene care along with nursing care procedures. When there were novice nurses in her unit, she would act as the preceptor or mentor to guide the new nurses in the practice and workflows. She would facilitate the completion of the competencies and would always make herself available whenever the new nurses have concerns.

She is friendly, patient, and approachable. Moreover, her calm demeanor and soft-spoken voice often give the people around her a sense of ease. Her junior peers frequently refer to her as their “sister” because she cares for them like her own family members.

When she became a Nurse Administrator, her scope of responsibilities also broadened. She is now visiting all the General Wards, critical areas, and Ambulatory Care settings on a daily basis and when needed. She would join the rounds with the Patient Experience Team everyday just to see how the admitted patients were doing and if they needed anything. She would also go about the Nurse Stations to oversee the staffing and the nurses’ well-being. Apart from this, she also monitors the compliance of all units to the current Nursing Policies and Procedures which include the implementation and use of new nursing practice guidelines and nursing forms.

Additionally, Aleyamma is an active member of the hospital’s Code Blue Committee, Medication Safety Management Committee, DAISY Committee, and Nursing Shared Governance Clinical Practice and Quality Council.

Aleyamma is truly a dedicated nurse, more so as a Nurse Administrator. With her years of loyalty and commitment to Saudi German Hospital Jeddah and to the nursing profession, she is certainly deserving of the recognition for her contributions and great service to the hospital.
