Alexis went above and beyond, providing exceptional, patient-centered care to a young patient on the Neuro Stroke Unit who was scheduled for discharge to rehabilitation later that day. Despite having a busy assignment of her own, Alexis took the initiative to bring the patient to another floor so she could shower, helping her regain a sense of normalcy and dignity during a challenging time.

While preparing for the shower, Alexis learned that the patient's favorite artist was Bad Bunny. To make the experience as comforting and familiar as possible, she immediately put on the music, turning a routine task into a meaningful, personal experience. The shower became more than just part of the patient's care; it became a moment that reminded her of home and helped her feel like herself again.

Alexis's compassion had a clear impact. Despite her communication challenges, the patient expressed her gratitude multiple times, repeatedly saying "thank you."
