I am honored to recognize Alexis Galvez, RN, for her extraordinary compassion, courage, and unwavering commitment to patient care.

When our unit was faced with an exceptionally difficult and challenging patient whose behaviors were emotionally and physically exhausting for the staff, Alexis stepped forward without hesitation. While many struggled with the demands of caring for this patient, she remained calm, professional, and compassionate. She consistently treated the patient with dignity and respect while ensuring the safety of everyone involved.

Alexis demonstrated remarkable resilience throughout this experience. Despite repeated verbal hostility and the emotional toll the situation created, she never allowed frustration to interfere with the quality of care she provided. She advocated for her patient, collaborated with the healthcare team, and supported her coworkers through one of the most challenging situations our unit has experienced.

Her willingness to accept one of the most demanding assignments exemplifies selflessness, leadership, and the true spirit of nursing. Alexis not only cared for her patient with excellence but also helped relieve the burden on her teammates, allowing the unit to continue providing safe, compassionate care to every patient.

Alexis represents everything the DAISY Award stands for. Her courage, empathy, professionalism, and dedication during an incredibly difficult situation make her exceptionally deserving of this recognition.
