My dad was admitted to the FHH ED via ambulance. By the time he arrived at the ED, he was in very critical condition. I watched Alexis work with another nurse in the ED.

Alexis was able to think critically, while showing compassion for my dad, who was vomiting up massive amounts of blood and having large volumes of bloody stool. As soon as the doctor ordered something, Alexis would run to get it. I watched her run to the pharmacy to get medication that was ordered, running to the lab, and running to get the blood products ordered for my dad's massive blood transfusion instead of waiting for it to arrive on the unit.

Alexis knew the seriousness of my dad's condition, and I witnessed her calmly assisting the other nurse. Alexis is an extraordinary nurse with exceptional critical thinking skills. She had my dad singing to her so he would not fall asleep and never wake back up. She was there for him when he was scared and did not know what was going on. Alexis was very compassionate and empathetic towards my dad and my family.

Alexis Delos Santos played a role in saving my dad's life. If it weren't for her hard work, critical thinking skills, as well as compassion, my dad would not have the opportunity of receiving a partial liver transplant from my brother next Tuesday at Georgetown Hospital.
