I haven’t spent much time in hospitals, but I do recognize outstanding care when I experience it. Alexandra embodies the very best of the nursing profession.
By way of background, I arrived at Huntington’s Emergency Room at 1:30 am. My wife and I were visiting family in Pasadena, we’re from Maryland, when I became ill. Although the admission process began promptly, a lengthy wait in the emergency room for a CT scan delayed my admission until around 4:00 pm that day.

Despite the understandable frustration from the long delay, I had no complaints about the quality of care or the professionalism of the ER staff; they were admirable.

When I was finally transferred to my room, I came under the care of Critical Care Nurse Alexandra Chila, and from that point on, the excellent care I had been receiving became spectacular. I was immediately put at ease by her competence, positivity, and compassionate presence. She clearly communicated everything that was happening, ensuring that my wife and I felt informed and reassured every step of the way.

Instead of ending her shift on time that night, Alexandra stayed late to make sure I received the pain medication I had been waiting for and to personally introduce me to the night shift nurses. Fortunately, she returned the next morning, and I was once again in her expert care for another full day. She even extended her shift the next day to help expedite my discharge process.

I am certain that every one of her patients experiences the same exceptional level of care that I did. It was clear that she had the respect and admiration of her colleagues, and it’s easy to see why. I haven’t spent much time in hospitals, but I do recognize outstanding care when I experience it. Alexandra embodies the very best of the nursing profession.

I would also like to note that my experience with every staff member, from admitting to the chaplain to every physician I encountered, was consistently excellent and professional. What could have been a very difficult experience became a profoundly reassuring one, thanks to the extraordinary skill and compassion of Nurse Alexandra Chila. She made all the difference during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life.
